Peotone is 2-8 against Manteno since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Blue Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 4:30 p.m.
Peotone is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They fell just short of Kankakee by a score of 7-6 on Friday.
Declan McMaster and Tavin Harshfield stepped up to the plate in a big way. McMaster got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double, while Harshfield went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those RBI were McMaster's first of the season.
Meanwhile, on Monday Manteno's undefeated season almost came to an end. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over Lisle. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since May 6, 2025.
Tyler Buehler was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Bufford, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Peotone's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Manteno, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Peotone has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Manteno struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 11.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Peotone couldn't quite get it done against Manteno when the teams last played back in April of 2025 as they fell 5-0. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
