With a playoff game on the line, the Early County Bobcats rose to the challenge on Friday. They put the hurt on Hawkinsville with a sharp 42-20 victory. Early County might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won five matches by 20 points or more this season.
Tycavion Stovall continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 239 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. Stovall is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendarrious Boyd, who rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown.
Hawkinsville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Zenard Smith, who rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown. Nieem Blair was another key contributor, rushing for 75 yards and a touchdown.
Early County's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Hawkinsville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5.
Early County will be playing at home against Emanuel County Institute at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Emanuel County Institute is ranked 240th, while Early County is ranked 233rd). Hawkinsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
