Baseball Recap: Oostburg Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Kohler, Oostburg was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Howards Grove Tigers by a score of 13-9. The Flying Dutchman haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Garret Rauwerdink was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Oostburg is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-8 otherwise. Rauwerdink was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Regan Beardsley looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Lucas Lemahieu, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Chase Townsend was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Oostburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Oostburg's record now sits at 7-9. As for Howards Grove, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.

Oostburg and Howards Grove could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Flying Dutchman will take on Random Lake at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (303 vs. 84). Meanwhile, Howards Grove (ranked 381st) will meet Reedsville (ranked 153rd) at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
