For the second straight game, Gregori will face off against Pitman. The Jaguars will square off against the Pride at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Gregori managed to slip by Pitman the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Jaguars lost 19-6 to the Pride on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Jaguars have suffered against the Pride since April 3, 2023.
For Pitman's part, Ben Vilhauer was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. Vilhauer was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Jackson Way was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three runs and four RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Nolan Walker was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with five runs, one double, and one RBI.
Pitman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Pitman, bringing their record up to 17-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Gregori, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 10-13 record.
Gregori's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. The Jaguars have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Pitman, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Gregori continue to outrun the ball?
