The South Gallia Rebels won the last time they faced the Green Bobcats, and things went their way on Thursday too. South Gallia strolled past Green with points to spare, taking the game 65-46. Given South Gallia's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while Green is ranked 257th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
South Gallia was led to victory by Tori Triplett and Morgan Lyons. Triplett scored 13 points along with 9 steals and 6 assists, while Lyons scored 21 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Lyons has scored at least 25% of South Gallia's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Macie Sanders, who scored 9 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals.
When it comes to explaining why Green lost, one person who can't be blamed is Abbie Knapp. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 28 points and 10 rebounds. The game was Knapp's third in a row with at least ten points. Matti Hayslip was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals.
South Gallia's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Green, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Gallia will take on River Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Green, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Eastern at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Eastern is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
