De La Salle is 9-1 against Foothill since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Spartans will host the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Foothill will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: De La Salle extended their winning streak to 11 on Saturday. The Spartans never let Dougherty Valley get on the board and left with a 14-0 win. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 28, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Cooper Barnes looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tyler Spangler, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jacob Gray, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
De La Salle kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Foothill had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 13-4 margin over the Dons.
Take Sato-Kreis looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
At the plate, Tanner Tarpley was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Hudson Flora was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Foothill pushed their record up to 19-5 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for De La Salle, their victory bumped their record up to 21-3.
De La Salle came out on top in a nail-biter against Foothill when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 5-4. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
