The North Star Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their 12th straight defeat. They were beaten by Rockwood 60-30. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for North Star in their matchups with Rockwood: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, North Star still got an impressive performance from Abby Barnick, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds. That was a full 66.7% of North Star's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
North Star's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-18. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.2 points per game. As for Rockwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season.
North Star will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Conemaugh Township at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rockwood, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Cambria Heights at 7:15 p.m. Hopefully Cambria Heights focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Friday.
