The Gregory School has gone a perfect 3-0 against Valley Lutheran recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Gregory School Hawks will face off against the Valley Lutheran Flames at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as The Gregory School comes in on five and Valley Lutheran on ten.

The Gregory School is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Baboquivari 45-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hawks have posted since December 11, 2024.

Meanwhile, Valley Lutheran didn't have too much trouble with Music Mountain on Friday as they won 56-39. Given the Flames' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while the Warriors are ranked 316th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The Gregory School better focus on containing Caynan Chapman and Caleb Doyle as the pair were huge in Valley Lutheran's win. Chapman dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten boards, while Doyle went 6-for-13 on his way to 16 points. That's the most points Doyle has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Gary Yang, who earned eight points and six rebounds.

Valley Lutheran's victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.5 points over those games. As for The Gregory School, their win bumped their record up to 18-10.

The Gregory School was able to grind out a solid victory over Valley Lutheran in their previous matchup back in February of 2018, winning 69-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for The Gregory School since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
