The Pantego Christian Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trinity Christian Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Pantego Christian suffered their biggest loss yet this season last Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 73-37 loss at the hands of Grace Prep. While losing is never fun, Pantego Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 691st, while Grace Prep is ranked 225th).
Pantego Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Tristan Brown, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds, and Aj Brooks who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Brooks also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Jamerson Green, who scored five points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Pantego Christian struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Trinity Christian ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against Community Christian by a score of 58-51. The win was some much needed relief for Trinity Christian as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Pantego Christian's loss dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Trinity Christian, their win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-13.
Pantego Christian skirted past Trinity Christian 57-54 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Does Pantego Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Trinity Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
