Cathedral Prep is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They skirted past Harbor Creek 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Ramblers have posted against the Huskies since June 2, 2021.
Frank Thomas looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Derick Friedman, who went 3-for-4 with one home run. Another player making a difference was AJ Sirianni, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Cathedral Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, General McLane hadn't done well against McDowell recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way last Wednesday. General McLane's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Kiser, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
General McLane's win bumped their record up to 13-5-1. As for Cathedral Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 17-4.
Cathedral Prep skirted past General McLane 1-0 in their previous meeting on May 4th. Will the Ramblers repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
