Pierce extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 21 on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-6. They came up short against the Live Oak Lions, falling 14-5. If the Bears were looking for revenge after losing 16-3 to the Lions when the teams met back in March of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Pierce saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Harris, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. That run was Harris' first of the season. Jimmy Anderson was another, earning two RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.
As for Live Oak, their record is now 5-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by nine runs or more this season.
On Live Oak's side, Farron Gomez made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Gomez is becoming a predictor of Live Oak's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 0-3 when he doesn't). Gomez was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025.
In other batting news, Live Oak got a big performance out of Christian Santillan, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Santillan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaden Lee, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Pierce didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-5 loss against Chester on the 14th. As for Live Oak, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against Biggs on the 14th.
