The Stockdale Mustangs lost against the Centennial Golden Hawks back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Stockdale had to suffer through a rough 73-35 loss at the hands of Centennial. While losing is never fun, Stockdale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1029th, while Centennial is ranked 218th).
Stockdale lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Saniya Smith, who scored ten points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Priscila Salazar, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Stockdale has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Centennial, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 16-4.
Stockdale will be playing in front of their home fans against Liberty at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing isn't great for Stockdale: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Liberty has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road. As for Centennial, they will take on Highland at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
