After a string of three wins, the Waterford Wildcats's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They received a tough blow as they fell 32-13 to Orestimba. Waterford found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 35 to 5 on offense.
When it comes to explaining why Waterford lost, one person who can't be blamed is Thalia Reyes. Despite the final result, she scored five points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Reyes hasn't dropped below six steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Ward, who scored four points along with four steals.
Olivia Gray continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Orestimba, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. Gray is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mia Quevedo, who scored no points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Waterford's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Orestimba, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-8.
Waterford will head out on the road to face off against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Orestimba, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Lions at 5:30 p.m. Linden has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 6.
