The Chestnut Ridge Lions will be playing at home against the Richland Rams at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Chestnut Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Thursday.
On Thursday, Chestnut Ridge was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 39-35 to Bedford.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ashlie Weaver, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Hillegass, who scored 12 points along with two blocks.
Richland was handed a three-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Somerset on Thursday. Richland really took it to Somerset for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-27 win at home. With Richland ahead 43-13 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Chestnut Ridge now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Richland, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 10-11.
Chestnut Ridge came up short against Richland when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 32-22. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Richland's Lanie Marshall, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.
