Granite Hills has gone 8-2 against El Capitan recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Eagles will head out to challenge the Vaqueros at 4:00 p.m. Granite Hills will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
On Tuesday, Granite Hills got the win against Helix by a conclusive 9-1. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.
Brenden Lewis made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Jacob Kruse looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, Tommy Entrekin was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Parker Vance was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Meanwhile, El Capitan posted their closest victory since April 2nd on Tuesday. They skirted past Valhalla 5-3. The Vaqueros haven't had any issues with the Norsemen recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Seth Walker, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. El Capitan is 3-1 when Walker posts two or more runs, but 6-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was David Vera, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Granite Hills' victory was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-0-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for El Capitan, their record is now 9-12.
Granite Hills took their victory against El Capitan in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 8-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
