Lower Lake has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Middletown Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lower Lake will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 655th, while Middletown is ranked 271st).
Lower Lake won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They were dealt a 56-29 loss at the hands of Cloverdale. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Lower Lake has suffered against Cloverdale since January 30, 2019.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Tiahna Tubbs, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. That was a full 41.4% of Lower Lake's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Brooke Benson was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Middletown had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.8 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They really took it to St. Helena for the full four quarters, racking up a 63-17 victory at home. Middletown has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 23 points or more this season.
Lower Lake now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Middletown, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
Lower Lake was taken down by Middletown 54-27 when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can Lower Lake avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
