Meanwhile, Liberty County waltzed into their matchup on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They didn't even let the Highlanders on the board, marking their second-straight 15-0 shutout. Considering the Panthers have won 16 contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Kayleigh Barnard was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Layla Santiago, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two runs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1 stolen bases per game. Amiyah Payne was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with four stolen bases and two runs.
Liberty County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .611. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .455 or higher in three consecutive games.
Liberty County's record is now 16-11. As for Savannah Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.
