The Liberty Bison waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They really took it to Perris for the full four quarters, racking up a 52-20 win at home. With Liberty ahead 28-7 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Alex Barajas was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 13 steals. Another player making a difference was AJ Enguillado, who scored nine points along with 11 steals and six rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Perris saw an underclassman step up: E'Niece Ray scored eight points along with 15 rebounds and two steals. Ray is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.
Liberty has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. As for Perris, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty will square off against San Jacinto at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Perris, they will head out on the road to take on Tahquitz at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
