Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Thornton

Thornton entered their tilt with Poudre on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Impalas by a score of 14-9. While the Trojans didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-12-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Makayla Florez made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Florez was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those stolen bases were her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alauna Jaramillo, who earned three RBI and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Lopez, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Thornton's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Poudre, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Thornton will take on Timnath in a tournament on Saturday. As for Poudre, they will be taking part in a tournament against Northfield at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
