The Monta Vista Matadors stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by Palo Alto on the road to the tune of 57-24. With Monta Vista ahead 37-9 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Despite the loss, Palo Alto saw an underclassman step up: Ella Hoy scored nine points.
Monta Vista's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.4 points per game. As for Palo Alto, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-22.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monta Vista won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Harker at 12:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Harker will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Monta Vista surely won't give up without a fight. As for Palo Alto, they will head out on the road to take on Lynbrook at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Palo Alto will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1037th, while Lynbrook is ranked 186th).
