The Dana Hills Dolphins entered their tilt with the Anaheim Colonists with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Dana Hills took down Anaheim 67-49 on Saturday. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 17 more assists than your opponent, as Dana Hills did.
Dana Hills found their leader in underclassman Kayla Rice, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. Rice set a new season high mark in blocks with three. Another player making a difference was Lola Bellon, who scored 13 points.
When it comes to explaining why Anaheim lost, one person who can't be blamed is Elise Marquez. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points along with seven assists. The contest was Marquez's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Guzman, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Dana Hills is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. As for Anaheim, their loss dropped their record down to 14-1.
Dana Hills will be playing in front of their home fans against San Bernardino at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully San Bernardino focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday. Anaheim and Whittier Christian will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Whittier Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 422nd, while Anaheim is ranked 80th).
