Ponderosa dropped to 5-2 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Woodcreek Timberwolves by a score of 6-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Timberwolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-2 on Tuesday.
Ponderosa handed starting duties to Garrett Snyder, who gave a strong showing despite the result: he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Snyder has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Cohen Lapierre made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one stolen base. Tyler Purdom was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
As for Woodcreek, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 3, 2025.
On Woodcreek's side, Houston Grigsby looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Grigsby a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cameron Clouse, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That stolen base was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Trace Murchison, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.
While Ponderosa had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
