The PIAA state playoffs got underway on Friday and few games featuring Top 25 Pennsylvania teams and performances could possibly beat No. 14 Coatesville's 48-27 win over Garnett Valley.
Quarterback
Ricky Ortega led a resounding comeback, accounting for five touchdowns and then
Dapree Bryant finished things off with not just one, but two pick 6s in the second half as the Red Raiders advanced to second-round play.
Ortega started the scoring with a 37-yard touchdown pass to Bryant. He added a 49-yard run and a 64-yard TD pass to go up 20-7. Garnett Valley countered with three straight touchdowns to go up 27-20, before Oretega scored on runs of 9 and 35 yards to go up 34-27, before Bryant finished things off with a pair of pick 6s.
Other big playoff games between Top 25 games, third-ranked Central Dauphin defeated No. 7 Harrisburg, 27-20, No. 9 Peters Township knocked off No. 12 Penn Trafford 28-10, and No. 10 Downington West outlasted No. 18 Haverford 49-42.
