Baseball Recap: Harbor Teacher Wins Going Away Against Locke

Harbor Teacher came out on top against Locke on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fifth inning. The Monarchs put the hurt on the Saints with a sharp 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Monarchs, who have now won six matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Benjamin Garcia and Derek Nieves made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Garcia struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Meanwhile, Nieves tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Garcia a new career-high. At the plate, Garcia went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Nieves went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chase Gabriel, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Harbor Teacher has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Locke, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-15.

As of now, neither Harbor Teacher nor the Saints have any future games scheduled.
