Baseball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Chavez

Chavez had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Delano on Thursday. The Titans blew past the Tigers 11-1. The Titans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by six runs or more this season.

Jacob Sixtos and Benji Perez were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Sixtos struck out nine batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Perez pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). At bat, Sixtos went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Perez got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Sixtos has become a key player for Chavez: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-6-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emmanuel Segura, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Julian Villareal, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

The victory was the sixth in a row for Chavez, bringing their record up to 6-6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Delano, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Chavez will take on Roosevelt at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Delano, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Wasco at 6:30 p.m. on April 7.
