The Rockwood Rockets lost against the Aquinas Academy Crusaders back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Rockwood took a serious blow against Aquinas Academy, falling 59-9. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Rockwood has scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Aquinas Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tess Duer, who scored 17 points along with three steals. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. Emily Fisher was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Rockwood's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Aquinas Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-1.
Rockwood will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Our Lady of the Sacred Heart at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Pennsylvania (Our Lady of the Sacred Heart is ranked 235th, while Rockwood is ranked 256th). As for Aquinas Academy, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Belle Vernon at 4:00 p.m. on December 28th. Belle Vernon is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
