Baseball Game Preview: Tulare Union Tribe vs. Mission Oak Hawks

Tulare Union is 0-10 against Mission Oak since May of 2022 but things could change on Wednesday. The Tribe will welcome the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. The last three games Tulare Union has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Tulare Union made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Hanford, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Tribe fell just short of the Bullpups by a score of 7-5 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Tribe have suffered since April 11th.

Brayden Stevenson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Tulare Union: the team is 6-2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-14 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Maryk Heffley, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Mission Oak won against Tulare Western on Wednesday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Hawks beat Lemoore by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 4-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Deegan Sartuche spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.

At the plate, Mission Oak saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Boston Frediani, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Those two hits gave Frediani a new career-high.

Mission Oak is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-9-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Tulare Union, their loss dropped their record down to 7-16-1.

Tulare Union might still be hurting after the 8-1 defeat they got from Mission Oak in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Tribe avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
