The Xavier Prep Saints can now show off 17 landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Thursday. They blew past La Quinta 51-18 at home. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-5.
Amoree Ferrel was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Grace Thomsen, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why La Quinta lost, one person who can't be blamed is Keymora Salter. Despite the final result, she scored six points along with nine rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, La Quinta struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Xavier Prep racked up 12 assists.
Xavier Prep has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season. As for La Quinta, their loss dropped their record down to 13-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Xavier Prep will take on Sunny Hills at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Sunny Hills focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Thursday. La Quinta's road trip will continue as they head out to face San Jacinto at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th. One thing working in San Jacinto's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 11 contests.
