Academy of Careers & Exploration has not had much luck with Lucerne Valley recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Academy of Careers & Exploration lost, one person who can't be blamed is DeIsis Ross. Despite the final result, she scored 25 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ross has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Bethany White, who scored seven points along with five steals.
Lucerne Valley found their leader in underclassman Jasmine Pepper, who scored 23 points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Pepper scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Evans, who scored 11 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds.
Academy of Careers & Exploration's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-7. As for Lucerne Valley, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Academy of Careers & Exploration will take on Apple Valley Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Apple Valley Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 16 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Lucerne Valley, they will be playing at home against Silver Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Silver Valley is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
