The Covenant Christian Cougars came tearing into Thursday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 50 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Salt and Light Homeschool and snuck past 42-40. For Covenant Christian, this counts as revenge for the 54-38 loss Salt and Light Homeschool walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Alani Owens was her usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with six rebounds and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Keeley Chaddick, who scored 13 points along with two blocks.
Covenant Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 19-12 record this season. As for Salt and Light Homeschool, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-15.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Covenant Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Providence Classical at 5:30 p.m. on February 9th. Providence Classical comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 16 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Salt and Light Homeschool, they will be playing at home against Non Varsity Opponent at 10:00 p.m. on Saturday.
