Lewis-Palmer extended their losing streak to 11 on Wednesday, dropping them down to 2-13. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lutheran Lions. If the Rangers were looking for revenge after losing 16-1 to the Lions when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Nicole McClintock made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Eden McCuen, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
As for Lutheran, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games.
On Lutheran's side, Ella Faries made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Faries posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in August. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.
In other batting news, Briar Golden was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kiley Glenn, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Lewis-Palmer will take on rival Discovery Canyon at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Lutheran is set to face off against their familiar foe Cheyenne Mountain at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lions 3.5, the Red-Tailed Hawks 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
