Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Scituate). They were the clear victors by a 21-1 margin over the Times Squared Academy Eagles on Wednesday. Considering the Spartans have won four games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Jackson Scanlon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since April 2nd.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Travis Howman, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of David Hanson, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Scituate kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.
