Basketball Recap: Vista Takes a Loss

If Vista was riding high fresh off their 52-4 takedown of Ramona last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Vista Panthers were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 44-43 to the Valley Center Jaguars. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jaguars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordyn Lowe, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 boards. Those 13 boards gave Lowe a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Mosley, who posted 15 points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Vista was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley Center only posted four assists.

Valley Center can attribute much of their success to Brooklyn English, who went 6 of 10 on her way to 13 points along with five boards and three steals. English is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kira Le, who had ten points and five rebounds.

Vista has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Valley Center, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Vista didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-55 defeat against Mt. Carmel on the 9th. As for Valley Center, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 64-17 loss against Rancho Buena Vista on the 9th.
