High school basketball: Will Bronny James be a McDonald's All-American? Predicting the 24-player roster ahead of Tuesday's announcement

The name that will garner the most attention Tuesday is Bronny James of Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.). James is likely to get the nod for the showcase after averaging 15 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.6 steals and two steals through the first half of the season for the Trailblazers.

Regarded as the No. 34 prospect in the Class of 2023 by 247Sports, the 6-foot-3 guard's candidacy no doubt benefits from the legacy of being the son of one of the all-time greats in LeBron James. He has been the most high-profile player in high school basketball for the past four years and has handled the pressure and scrutiny with aplomb.

While Bronny isn't necessarily a lock to make the roster, many scouts believe that the Sierra Canyon senior will make the cut over higher-ranked peers.

Among the locks for the 2023 McDonald's All-American Game, five-star seniors Aaron Bradshaw and D.J. Wagner of Camden (N.J.), Matas Buzelis of Sunrise Christian Academy (Bel Aire, Kan.), Stephon Castle of Newton (Covington, Ga.), Isaiah Collier of Wheeler (Marietta, Ga.), Justin Edwards of Imhotep Charter (Philadelphia) and MacKenzie Mgbako of Roselle Catholic (Roselle, N.J.) are expected to get the nod.

Among players on the bubble, we believe Mookie Cook of AZ Compass Prep (Chandler, Ariz.), Jeremy Fears Jr. of Joliet West (Joliet, Ill.), Deshawn Harris-Smith of Paul VI (Chantilly, Va.), Simeon Wilcher of Roselle Catholic and Mikey Williams of San Ysidro (San Diego, Calif.) edge out a large group of deserving candidates that could be on the outside looking in.
