Mater Dei Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Promise Martin, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Martin has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ana karen Lacave, who scored seven points along with two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Oceanside lost, one person who can't be blamed is Martina Griffin. Despite the final result, she scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. Griffin has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 16 times she's played. Aubrey Madden was another key contributor, scoring no points along with ten rebounds and six steals.
Mater Dei Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Oceanside, their loss dropped their record down to 13-4.
Mater Dei Catholic on the road again on Thursday and play against Victory Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 18th. As for Oceanside, they will be playing in front of their home fans against La Costa Canyon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
