The Hanford Bullpups were the 68-57 winner over the El Diamante Miners when they last played one another back in January of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Hanford took a 65-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of El Diamante on Saturday. Hanford has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Hanford's loss came despite strong showings from Kenyah Stubbs and Nevaeh Lockett. Stubbs scored 25 points along with seven rebounds and five assists, while Lockett dropped a double-double on 17 points and 19 rebounds. That was a full 48.1% of Hanford's points, marking the 22nd time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Rian Jones-dillihunt was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds for El Diamante. It was the first time this season that Jones-dillihunt pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Neveah Creason, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Hanford now has a losing record at 11-12. As for El Diamante, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hanford will take on Tulare Union at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hanford is facing Tulare Union at the right time seeing as Tulare Union is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for El Diamante, they will be playing at home against Monache at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. El Diamante is on a five-game streak of home wins, Monache a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
