Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Hart led Minnesota in rushing with 2,642 yards and his 39 rushing touchdowns were the state's second-highest total. He added 17 receptions for 135 yards and another score.
In a 34-31 overtime loss against Chanhassen in the state championship game, Hart had 37 carries for 226 yards and two touchdowns.
A week earlier in the semifinals, Hart ran 25 times for 227 yards and three touchdowns in a 42-30 win. He matched a season-high with 271 yards and five TDs in a 46-28 quarterfinal win over Owatonna.
Hart rushed for 200 yards or more in seven games while going over 150 in all but two games.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team.
