The El Modena Vanguards will square off against the Trabuco Hills Mustangs at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (El Modena 3.1, Trabuco Hills 1.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Having struggled with seven losses in a row, El Modena turned things around against Brea Olinda on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 13-4 margin over the Wildcats. The Vanguards' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.
Miguel Antuna looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Logan Honikel was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrian Perez, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Trabuco Hills put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their undefeated season alive. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Ontario Christian a 5-0 shutout. The Mustangs' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three contests.
Trabuco Hills also got a great performance from Mike DeFrancesca as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. DeFrancesca has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Amedeo Miller, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Brady Meade, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Trabuco Hills' victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-0-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for El Modena, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-7.
El Modena skirted past Trabuco Hills 4-3 in their previous matchup back in April of 2018. Will El Modena repeat their success, or does Trabuco Hills have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
