The Kennedy Thunderbirds's four-game losing streak came to an end on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Central Valley Christian and snuck past 35-33. The victory was just what Kennedy needed coming off of a 50-27 loss in their prior game.
Kayzel Dela Cruz was the offensive standout of the match as she scored 15 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Valeria Payan was another key contributor, scoring five points along with 11 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Central Valley Christian saw an underclassman step up: Alivya Cabasa scored ten points. Cabasa continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Joey Bakker, who scored six points.
Kennedy's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Central Valley Christian, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Kennedy is on the road again on Monday and play against Mira Monte at 5:15 p.m. on December 11th. Mira Monte is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Central Valley Christian and Parlier will face off at 5:30 p.m. on December 13th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
