Basketball Recap: West Hills Sets Scoring Season-High Against Valhalla

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Hills). They really took it to the Valhalla Norsemen for the full four quarters, racking up a 69-27 win. Given the Wolf Pack's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 320th, while the Norsemen are ranked 1123rd), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

West Hills had a senior duo take command as Jordan Dillon went 9 of 19 en route to 26 points along with eight boards and four steals and Ava Kinser went 6 for 15 on her way to 18 points and six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Dillon has scored at least a third of West Hills' points. Kaelyn Roberson was another key player, going 6 of 8 en route to 12 points.

West Hills smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Ava Miles and Lilly Dallo certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Miles posted 11 points and five rebounds, while Dallo went 5 for 11 on her way to 10 points and eight boards. Miles is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Songoli EkwoSi, who earned a point and 13 rebounds.

West Hills' victory bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Valhalla, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-12.

West Hills will head out on the road to take on Santana at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Santana will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something West Hills surely won't give up without a fight. As for Valhalla, they will welcome Monte Vista at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Valhalla is facing Monte Vista at the right time seeing as Monte Vista is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
