Even though the Lugoff-Elgin Demons scored an imposing 55 points on Monday, the Trinity Collegiate Titans still came out on top. Trinity Collegiate secured a 61-55 W over Lugoff-Elgin. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Trinity Collegiate.
Trinity Collegiate's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jae Thomas led the charge by scoring 19 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Thomas has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Landon Wilson, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Several Demons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nigel Chivers, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. Chivers hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylen Mumford, who scored 14 points.
Even though they lost, Lugoff-Elgin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trinity Collegiate only pulled down two offensive rebounds.
Trinity Collegiate's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Lugoff-Elgin, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trinity Collegiate won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against First Baptist School at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. First Baptist School has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests. Lugoff-Elgin won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Westwood at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Averaging 68.5 so far this season, Westwood's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Lugoff-Elgin better be ready for a challenge.
