Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Laurel). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Summit Academy Knights 63-8. With that victory, the Spartans brought their scoring average up to 26.6 points per game.
Laurel's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Luca Santini, who threw for 142 yards and four TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes. That's the most passing yards Santini has posted since back in October of 2024. Kolton Carlson helped Santini out on the ground, picking up 94 receiving yards and a pair of scores, while also punching in one rushing score.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Brayden Faulkner, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Laurel's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Alex Medved was especially locked on to Summit Academy's QB and sacked him twice.
Laurel pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.7 points on average over those games. As for Summit Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
