The Brookfield Bobcats were the 69-64 winner over the Weston Trojans when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Brookfield fell 47-37 to Weston on Wednesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Brookfield has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Brookfield still got an impressive performance from Brendan Longworth, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Longworth has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Shane Weber, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Brookfield's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-3. As for Weston, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brookfield won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against New Fairfield at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (New Fairfield is ranked 45th, while Brookfield is ranked 38th). As for Weston, they will head out on the road to take on Immaculate at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Immaculate knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Weston likes a good challenge.
