The Verdugo Hills Dons will take on the Palisades Dolphins at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Verdugo Hills and San Fernando meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Dons skirted past the Tigers 5-3.
Ethan Sanchez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season. Jered Smith was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Palisades). Everything went their way against Hamilton on Friday as they made off with a 13-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Dolphins in their matchups with the Yankees: they've now won three in a row.
Brayden Levy looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Ethan Davis and Andreas Konnari did most of the damage at the plate: Davis went 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Konnari went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Konnari has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Gitlin, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Palisades hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hamilton struck out eight times.
Verdugo Hills' victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-6. As for Palisades, the win was their first at home, bumping their record up to 2-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Verdugo Hills has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Palisades struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Verdugo Hills skirted past Palisades 1-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Will the Dons repeat their success, or do the Dolphins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
