The Cowanesque Valley Indians will head out on the road to square off against the Troy Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cowanesque Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 653rd, while Troy is ranked 208th).
Cowanesque Valley can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Sayre and snuck past 29-27.
Even though Troy has not done well against Towanda recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Troy simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Towanda 64-32 at home. Troy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 26 points or more this season.
Troy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alyssa Parks out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Giana Renzi, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Cowanesque Valley's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-5. As for Troy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.
Cowanesque Valley took a serious blow against Troy when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 50-15. Thankfully for Cowanesque Valley, Rachel Kingsley (who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
