Basketball Recap: Western Christian Drops Season-High Score on Big Bear

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Western Christian). They blew past the Big Bear Bears 58-16 on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Western Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Izzy Balderrama led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 14 boards and nine steals. That's the most steals Balderrama has posted since back in November of 2024. Cece Balderrama was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Western Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 32 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in ten consecutive games.

Western Christian's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Big Bear, they dropped their record down to 1-15 with the loss, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Western Christian won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Magnolia Science Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Big Bear, they will also get right back to it: they'll challenge Riverside Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
