With a playoff win on the line, Great Bend rose to the challenge on Friday. They breezed past the Newton Railroaders to the tune of 49-14. Considering the Panthers have won eight games by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Leading Great Bend to victory were Ian Premer and Daxton Minton. Premer gained 118 total yards and four touchdowns, while Minton rushed for 146 yards and two scores. That's the most rushing touchdowns Minton has posted since back in September of 2024. Great Bend also got a significant boost from Conner Holladay, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 96 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Great Bend was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 355 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 156 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.
Great Bend didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Cooper Ohnmacht picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
