Windsor is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will host the Maria Carrillo Pumas at 4:00 p.m. Windsor has given up an average of 6.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Windsor is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bishop O'Dowd.
Adrian Rosiles put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Micah Sanders was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Rogan Billigmeier also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Maria Carrillo, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Sonoma Valley a 1-0 shutout on Tuesday. The one-run effort marked the Pumas' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Not much got past Landon Diehm, who gave up just four hits to keep Sonoma Valley off the board. Diehm has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Cooper Bluestone was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Windsor now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Maria Carrillo, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Windsor has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Maria Carrillo struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Windsor couldn't quite get it done against Maria Carrillo when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Will Windsor have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
