Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Huntington Park walked away with it. They took down the Knights 34-18 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Huntington Park.
Juana Vargas was the offensive standout of the contest as she scored 20 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Huntington Park's points.
Meanwhile, Cleveland didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Chatsworth on Friday, but they still walked away with a 52-46 victory. The win was just what Cleveland needed coming off of a 74-22 defeat in their prior contest.
Cleveland's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Izabella Maloumian, who scored 22 points along with three steals, and Valerie Anzora, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds. Anzora is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Isabella Espinoza, who scored three points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Huntington Park has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-18 record this season. As for Cleveland, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-14.
