The Downey Knights can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They breezed by Modesto on the road to the tune of 53-24. That looming 53-24 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Downey yet this season.
Downey got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Joslyn Sheppard out in front who scored six points along with nine steals and two blocks. Nathalia Soto, was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five steals and two blocks.
Downey's win ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-14. As for Modesto, their loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-12.
Downey will head out on the road to face off against Turlock at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Modesto, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gregori at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Gregori presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Modesto in California (Gregori is ranked 426th, while Modesto is ranked 1282nd).
